QNTA Organizes Healthy Food Workshop for Nannies of Nursery Kids
Qatar Nannies Training Academy (QNTA) organized a workshop entitled “Healthy Food for Nursery Kids”. The workshop was presented to nurseries’ staff; all within the framework of the Academy’s keenness to provide awareness-raising workshops to the local community, as a contribution to spreading a culture of healthy nutrition to ensure proper and integrated growth for children who are the pillar of society and its base for a better future. The workshop was held at the Academy building .
The main themes of the workshop focused on the causes of obesity, weight loss and loss of appetite in children, in addition to the issue of food allergy; which many suffer from nowadays. The workshop also highlighted the importance of proper child nutrition since the birth stage up to the stage of solid food and food supplements necessary to complete a proper growth. The workshop, moreover, dedicated a component to explain the elements of the “healthy food bag” as a child’s companion during the school day, while emphasizing the need to include the elements of the integrated food pyramid.
The workshop included purposeful practical applications on how to prepare a healthy food bag by the child caregiver, with full care on the quality of selection, in an effort to preserve the health of the child from the harms of plastic boxes. Modeling was also provided to guide caregivers on how to approach and deal with allergic episodes in young children, and to follow simple instructions that might save a child’s life by inquiring about his/her health history and coordinating with the parents from the beginning of his/her enrollment in the nursery.
The workshop also included presenting a number of smart ideas and innovative activities for children to encourage them love eating, and develop their ability to distinguish between healthy and unhealthy food. In the same context, the workshop dealt with the reasons behind children’s refusal to eat; whether in general or in nurseries in particular, and presented practical solutions through discussions, exchange of ideas, educational experiences and analysis of life situations that children go through while in nurseries. The trainees expressed their satisfaction in benefiting from the solutions offered, and some of them expressed their desire to receive more advice about diet and ways to improve it.
In conclusion, Qatar Nannies Training Academy took the opportunity to stress on its supportive role for parents and guiding them to preserve the health of their children by qualifying and training their nannies in accordance with the best modern methods; in order to provide a safe and stable environment that allows the child a healthy growth experience.
